Skincare with Green Tea

Green tea is a very healthy drink to have in case you want to lose weight. But I am very lazy when it comes to gym yoga or things like these. Also, I don't think I can give up my yummy milk tea. So, what I do is include all the healthy ingredients around me into my skincare routine and Green tea is my newest addition.

Green Tea

I have done my research to find out its composition and benefits on the skin and then combined it with other ingredients to make skincare products like face packs and toner. And here I am to share all the precious facts and benefits I have got from my new friend "Green Tea". Let's begin with its benefits first then we will be talking about its application on the skin.

To begin with, green tea is not made from any specific tea tree. We get green tea from the same tree we get normal black tea. The magic is hidden in the technique of processing. Processing of Green tea includes simple drying and steaming whereas black tea includes fermenting. And this is why all the nutrients of tea remain intact in green tea comparing to normal black tea and makes it highly beneficial for the human body internally as well as externally. Because of less processing, the colour also remains green.

Benefits of Green Tea on Skin :

Green Tea has always been a flag bearer of weight loss when it comes to staying fit and healthy. But it is equally beneficial to nourish us externally though it's a less talked about topic.

1. Rejuvenation of the skin :

Being a rich source of antioxidants green tea helps in regenerating cells. EGCG is a catechin present in green tea and contributes to reactivate cells. Applying and consuming green tea helps to dismiss the fine lines, wrinkles, and unwanted ageing spots from the skin and gives a younger and flawless look.

Our body forms free radicals which is the main reason for cell-damaging, losing skin elasticity, wrinkles, etc. Antioxidants of green tea create harmless free radicals when comes in a touch with free radicals of our body.

2. Prevents Skin Cancer :

UV ray is the biggest reason for skin cancer nowadays because of the fast-depleting ozone layer. Epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG) of green tea is the compound that plays an important role here. It stops UV rays from damaging the skin's surface and prevents the damaging of the skin's DNA. So regular consumption and application of green tea can prevent skin cancer to a great extent.

3. Prevention of Dark Circles from Undereye Area :

Dark circles are more or less everyone's friends these days and thanks to the lifestyle we are in. Also, there is puffiness to accompany dark circles. But green tea has its remedy as it has caffeine and tannin. Also, it has flavonoids to decrease the undereye fine lines. All you need to do is refrigerate two freshly brewed or recently used green tea bags for around one hour and put them on your eyes and leave them for 10 to 15 minutes. It gives an immediate freshness to the eyes.

4. Anti-inflammatory agent :

Green tea plays a significant role as an anti-inflammatory agent for our body as well as the skin as it contains polyphenols. Consumption of green tea helps to soothe inflammation, skin irritation, and redness on the skin internally to a great extent. Applying mixture having fresh green tea also does the same on the skin externally. Green tea boosts the level of Benzoic acid which gives us the benefit of reducing inflammation.

5. Dealing pores and blackheads :

Green tea is a saviour for oily skin people. The main problem of oily skis is the excess sebum it produces and along with it comes clogged pores, blackheads, and all. Being an astringent by nature it helps to reduce sebum secretion, tightens the pores, and prevent the damage we get from pollution. Application of green tea on the oil-prone zones of the face can be a great helps for oily skin people.

Okay, so these are some significant benefits we can get from green tea when it comes to facial skin. Now let's see how we can apply green tea to get its versatile benefits into the skin.
