Human mind is a very unique thing with various intricate features. It's complex structure includes a large number of functions like remembering, evaluating, perceiving, considering, creating, thinking, deciding, analysing and much more. It is the origin of all our emotions and senses - anger, fear, hatred, love, calmness, restlessness, sadness, happiness, boredom, disgust, enjoyment etc.

Not only these— the traits of our personality, our reactions in any situations, behavior, moral values, confidence, concentration, performance all these are somehow influenced by our mind. Being unmindful often makes us paying a high price. Mindset is one of those things which makes every individual unique. Basically directly or indirectly mind is the centre of everything we do in our life so it is very important to keep our mind healthy. If it's not well it can destroy every bit of us.

Mental health includes a person’s overall well-being — physically,  emotionally , socially.
When an individual can deal with normal stresses of life, balance his emotions, have a clear view of his goals and priorities of life, take care of his responsibilities, work productively and fruitfully, have confidence on himself, have an active social life ; he is having a sound mental health. 
The phrase ‘mental illness’ is not about only those people who are behaving distinguishably different but also for them who are suffering every second silently and behaving like “Everything is great. I am fine.”
A person having mental illness is unable to cope with any normal problem of life. A feeling of uselessness, emptiness, sadness, inability, absence of self-confidence covers his inner self. He fails to control his emotions. Facing emotional breakdown is an important phenomena of mental illness. It causes behavioural changes like social withdrawal, irregular sleeping and eating habits, irritability, anxiety, fear etc.

FACTORS TRIGGER MENTAL ILLNESS :  

A particular cause of mental illness cannot be defined but it can be said that in most of the cases it's caused by a combination of biological, psychological, environmental and social facts. Any trivial incident of childhood can be a cause of long term mental illness in future.

Biological factors :

  1. Heredity(presence of mental illness in family)
  2. Infections can cause to brain damage
  3. Prenatal damage
  4. Poor nutrition 
  5. Defects in certain areas of brain etc.

Psychological factors :

  1. Severe trauma suffered as child such as emotional, physical or sexual abuse
  2. Early loss - may be parents, friend, or any other loved ones 
  3. Extreme negligence 
  4. Inability to communicate freely to others etc.

Environmental and social factors :

  1. Feeling of loneliness
  2. Sudden change of place
  3. Change of school or job
  4. Financial problem
  5. Dysfunctional family 
  6. Facing humiliation  for having dark complexion or obesity 
  7. Divorce 
  8. Death of near and dear ones
  9. Negligence for being a girl child
Nowadays our super speedy, self-centred lifestyle is also a reason for mental illness. Everyone is a rat-racing for being successful. We are always running out of time to ask someone "Are you alright?" or may be just a "How are you?"

In spite of being surrounded by innumerable friends in virtual world feeling of loneliness is increasing everyday. Because there is barely someone in the real world with whom we can share our feelings or problems.

A report by World Health Organisation(WHO) has revealed that 7.5 percent of the Indian population suffer from some form of mental disorders. India accounted for nearly 15% of the global mental, neurological and substance abuse disorder burden. WHO also predicts that by 2020, roughly 20 percent of Indian will suffer from mental illness. And to cater this graph we have less than 4000 mental health professionals. 

Time stops for none. Isn't it a better option to live a quality life by communicating with each other in real world than just being active in the fake world of social media?
